Improperly Secured Load Results in Workplace Injury

29th August 2012

A man was left with a long-term knee injury because of an accident at work, where some heavy items fell onto him. Our specialist personal injury lawyers represented him in a compensation claim.

Hit by Falling Objects

Our client was receiving a delivery when his workplace accident occurred. Some pallets were being unloaded from a vehicle using a crane and the operator asked him for assistance. Unfortunately the large, heavy materials on the pallets had not been secured correctly. They therefore came loose and fell from a height onto our client.

This incident caused injuries to his knee, ankle and back and his knee injury was such that he needed surgery to repair it. He had to take a month off work and could only carry out lighter duties when he returned.

Personal Injury Claim

If the company making the delivery had ensured that the goods were secured safely onto the pallets, our client’s personal injury would have been avoided. He therefore contacted our solicitors for assistance with a personal injury claim.

We made a claim against the company, put forward evidence to show that they were responsible for what happened, and entered into negotiations with them in regard to compensation for our client. The case was successful and he received £8,500.
