Compensation Claim for Cyclist With Multiple Injuries

21st October 2011

Our specialist personal injury lawyers recently assisted a man who was injured in a cycling accident, when a car collided with his bicycle.

Cyclist Hit By Car

At the time of his road accident, our client was proceeding along a road in the cycle lane. The driver of a vehicle travelling on the same road turned across his path and struck his right side, causing him to be thrown to the ground.

He was knocked unconscious, even though he was wearing a helmet, and suffered multiple injuries, including a head injury, fractured ribs, dislocated shoulder and damage to his neck.

Thankfully our client was able to make a good recovery, albeit with some ongoing discomfort in his shoulder, but he was unable to work in his normal capacity for 3-4 months and could not enjoy his usual hobbies and activities during this period.

Personal Injury Claim

We represented the injured cyclist in a personal injury claim against the driver of the car.

The insurance company refused to admit full liability and their initial offers of compensation were low, so we entered into detailed negotiations with them to secure an acceptable offer for our client.

He received over £35,000 in compensation, including an amount for his lost earnings and other financial losses, such as the costs of replacing his bicycle and damaged clothing and his travel and medical expenses.
