Employee Suffers Personal Injury Due to Dangerous Workplace

29th October 2008

A woman injured in a serious accident at work enlisted the help of our specialist personal injury lawyers and recovered compensation.

Accident at Work

At the time of her accident, the claimant was attending a health and safety meeting at work. This was held in an extension that had been built above a ground floor office. Suddenly the floor gave way beneath the claimant and her colleagues and the room collapsed. She was trapped for some time before being freed by the Fire and Rescue service.

As a result of this workplace accident our client suffered injuries to her ankle, for which she required an operation and physiotherapy, extensive bruising to other parts of her body and also psychological trauma.

Claim Against Employer

It was found that the extension was not suitable for use as a room, as it had not been constructed to be load bearing. The HSE prosecuted the company following an investigation.

The claimant appointed our lawyers to assist her in making a personal injury claim and a settlement of £13,000 in damages was secured on her behalf.
