Family of Tragic Road Accident Victim Receives Compensation

3rd September 2009

The family of a man who suffered serious injuries in a road accident and sadly later died received compensation recently, in a case handled by our specialist personal injury solicitor..

Moped Accident

At the time of the accident, the victim was travelling along a main road on his moped when the driver of another vehicle negligently pulled out from a side road into his path. He was unable to avoid a collision and his moped collided with the driver’s side of the car.

As a result of the accident he suffered multiple injuries, including fractures to his sternum, shoulder blade and femur, a ruptured spleen and a head injury. He was admitted to hospital for a number of weeks and required surgery to remove his spleen and relieve the pressure caused by a brain haemorrhage. His injuries were such that for part of his stay he had to be kept sedated.

Although he was released from hospital and appeared to be making a slow recovery, our client sadly died a short time later due to complications arising from his injuries.

Compensation Claim

The victim had instructed our lawyers to assist him in making a personal injury claim against the driver of the vehicle before he died, and the claim was continued by his family after he passed away.

An interim payment was obtained to assist them with financial expenses whilst the case was in progress and we were able to secure damages on their behalf.
