Husband and Wife Injured in Road Accident Receive Compensation

14th August 2009

In a recent case, our lawyers successfully pursued a compensation claim on behalf of a husband and wife who suffered whiplash injuries in a road accident.

Car Accident

Our clients were stationary at a set of traffic lights when a van suddenly collided with the rear of their car. They both felt some pain immediately after the accident, as the force of the impact caused them to be thrown roughly forward and back in their seats, however they were initially able to exchange details with the other driver and continue their journey.

After seeking medical attention, they were both diagnosed with neck and back injuries and each required physiotherapy treatment. The husband, who was driving the car, also suffered some pain in his arm and chest and they were both affected by their injuries for a number of months.

Personal Injury Claim

They felt that the driver of the van was responsible for the incident, so our lawyers were instructed to make a personal injury claim on their behalf.

The van driver’s insurance company agreed to compensate them, however their initial offers of compensation did not fully reflect the level of injury and losses sustained by our clients. Negotiations were therefore made and settlements of £6,400 and £6,200 in damages were eventually agreed upon.
