Substantial Settlement for Serious Injury at Work

 

Our lawyers recently recovered a substantial compensation settlement for a young man who suffered devastating spinal injuries in an accident at work.

Whilst loading some large signs onto the rear of a van, the claimant suffered serious injuries when a stack of the signs fell onto him.

The claimant was left with paraplegia as a result of this workplace accident and it is unlikely that he will work again. He will require ongoing, daily care throughout his lifetime and specially adapted accommodation.

Serious Injury Compensation Claim

Following the accident the claimant appointed our lawyers, who specialise in serious injury cases, to assist him in making a claim for damages.

He felt that his employer was responsible for the accident, as the van was too small for the signs to be stacked safely, the rack provided was inappropriate for the task and he was not instructed on a safe system of work. In addition, there should have been more employees working on the job to ensure safe manual handling, according to an earlier risk assessment.

A settlement in excess of £2,000,000 was agreed as compensation for the claimant’s injuries and losses, including loss of future earnings, expenses for treatment and care, and other financial costs related to his injury.
