£12,000 Compensation for Back Injury at Work

20th September 2007

When an accident at work caused an employee to suffer an injury to her lower back and accelerated a pre-existing condition, our lawyers were able to secure compensation on her behalf.

Injured at Work

Whilst at work, the claimant suffered a fall when her foot went into a hole in a pallet where a piece of wood was missing. As a result she sustained injuries to the soft tissues in her lower back and a prolapsed disc.

In addition, a pre-existing condition in her lower back was aggravated and orthopaedic evidence showed that this caused it to be accelerated by eight years.

The claimant was not able to return to work in her previous capacity and was told that light duties were not available for her. Her employment with the defendants was terminated around 15 months after her accident at work.

Workplace Accident Claim

Our lawyers were appointed to represent the claimant in a compensation claim against her employer.

Evidence was provided and the Judge found in favour of the claimant. She was awarded £12,000 in respect of her personal injury and a further sum to compensate her for the loss of past and future earnings.
