£90,000 Damages for Condition Brought on by Accident at Work

22nd August 2007

Our specialist personal injury lawyers were recently able to recover a large sum of damages for an employee who developed a disabling condition as the result of a workplace accident.

Injured at Work

In the course of his employment, the claimant suffered a personal injury when an electric truck skidded due to grease and oil on the ground.

The injuries he suffered in this accident at work were to his knee and thigh and, although they did not seem to be serious initially, the trauma brought on a condition called psoriatic arthritis. This affected the claimant’s wrists.

Employer at Fault

His employer admitted liability for the accident and our lawyers obtained evidence from a rheumatologist and dermatologist that the trauma was related to the psoriatic arthritis.

It was established that the claimant already suffered from psoriasis and that the injury sparked the onset of the condition. A sum of £90,000 compensation was negotiated prior to the case going to trial.
