Hospital Employee Suffers Trip at Work on Door Stop

24th February 2010

A member of staff at a hospital was injured in a tripping accident at work and our expert personal injury lawyers assisted her in making a claim for compensation.

Fall at Work

Our client was employed in a hospital operating department and, at the time of her accident, she and a colleague were transferring a patient from a theatre using a wheeled bed. The swing doors they went through could be opened in either direction and there was a fixed doorstop on one side, to prevent them from banging against the wall. She could not see this however due to the trolley blocking her view, the fact that the doorstop was a similar colour to the carpet and that the corridor was not lit.

She tripped over the doorstop and suffered injuries to her knee and toe because of this workplace accident.

Injury Claim Against Employer

Our specialist lawyers were appointed to pursue a personal injury claim on the injured employee’s behalf, as she felt the accident could have been prevented with better standards of safety.

The hospital trust denied that they were responsible for the claimant’s accident at work and refused to offer compensation. We therefore pursued the case to Court, presented evidence about the incident and our client’s personal injury and the Judge found in her favour. We secured a settlement of damages on her behalf.
