£11,000 Compensation for Woman Injured in Car Accident

24th August 2009

A driver involved in a road accident where a lorry collided with the rear of her car received compensation recently, in a case handled by our specialist personal injury lawyers.

Road Accident

Our client was driving along a road at the time of her car accident. She was moving slowly towards a set of traffic lights that were on red, when she felt a forceful impact from behind. A lorry had collided with the rear of her car, causing her to be thrown roughly forwards and back in her seat.

Luckily she was restrained by her seatbelt, however she still sustained a neck injury and shoulder injury. The pain in her shoulder did not resolve over time, despite physiotherapy treatment, so our client required injections into the joint and eventually an operation. This meant that she required time off from work and help with personal care and household tasks from her husband during her recovery.

Personal Injury Claim

Our lawyers are experts in personal injury claims, with a wealth of experience in road accident cases, so the claimant appointed us to deal with the case on her behalf.

The defendant’s insurers initially made an offer that we felt did not reflect the full extent of our client’s injuries and losses. Negotiations were made however and an increased offer of £11,000 in damages was eventually agreed upon. This took into account the pain, suffering and loss of amenity the claimant suffered, her travel expenses related to the injury, prescription charges and the costs for care she required.
