Inadequate System of Cleaning Causes Serious Accident at Work

11th December 2009

A man who was injured at work when he slipped and fell due to insufficient cleaning provisions recently received compensation, in a claim dealt with by our expert personal injury lawyers.

Slip at Work

Our client worked at a market. He was the first to arrive on the morning of his accident and he began to open up the building and switch on the lights. Whilst walking through the market he rounded a blind corner and slipped, as there was a vegetable leaf and some thick liquid residue on the floor near to a waste skip.

He suffered a serious shoulder injury and required surgery. Unfortunately there was permanent damage to his shoulder and he was left with ongoing pain, as a result of which he could no longer work.

Accident Claim

The injured employee appointed our lawyers, who have extensive experience in workplace accident cases, to assist him in recovering compensation. We made a personal injury claim against his employer on his behalf.

We pursued the case to trial and the Judge found that a reasonable system of cleaning would not have allowed a slipping hazard to remain present overnight. We recovered a substantial sum of damages in respect of our client’s injury, his loss of earnings and other financial losses including the costs of travel, care and medication.
