Compensation Claim for Woman Injured by Contractor’s Fencing

9th June 2009

A woman injured by unsafe fencing in a public street recovered compensation recently, in a case handled by our specialist personal injury lawyers.

Personal Injury

Our client was walking along a local high street when she passed an area where workmen were re-laying part of the paving. Some wire fencing had been erected to section off the construction work from pedestrians, however it was not secured into place.

Although it was not an especially windy day, part of the fence blew over onto her and she sustained injuries to her left arm and hand. She was unable to carry out her full duties at work until she had recovered from these injuries and was left with a small scar on her hand.

Accident Claim

The claimant instructed our lawyers, who specialise in all areas of personal injury, including cases involving accidents in public places, to make a claim against the contractor on her behalf. She felt that if they had taken reasonable safety measures whilst carrying out their work her accident could have been prevented.

The defendants admitted liability and our client received a settlement of damages in respect of her injuries.
