Over £40,000 Compensation for Woman Injured by Loose Dog

15th August 2011

Dogs can cause serious harm if not kept under proper control, even if they do not aggressively attack someone. In this case, our specialist personal injury lawyers acted on behalf of a woman who was knocked over by a dog and sustained a serious leg injury.

Injured by Dog

Our client suffered a personal injury when a dog’s owner allowed it to run loose and out of control and it knocked her to the ground.

As she fell, her leg twisted sharply over but her foot remained still, and her leg was fractured in two places as a result. Our client required three operations to repair the damage, she was unable to drive for eight months after the accident and she had to work from home because her mobility was restricted by her injury.

She was also left with a large, permanent scar, which makes her self conscious when wearing dresses or skirts, and the risk of further problems with her knee in the future.

Compensation Claim

The claimant’s injury could have been avoided if the owner of the dog had acted responsibly and kept it under control. She therefore approached our lawyers, who have extensive experience in assisting the victims of accidents caused by animals, for help with a personal injury claim.

The dog owner had insurance cover and admitted liability for the incident. We dealt with the case on the injured woman’s behalf and we were able to secure in excess of £40,000 compensation, in respect of the injuries she sustained and her financial losses related to the accident.
