Compensation for Passenger Injured in Multi-Vehicle Road Accident

2nd August 2011

In a recent case, our specialist personal injury lawyers acted on behalf of a man who was badly hurt in a road accident, when a lorry collided with the car he was in.

Accident on Main Road

Our client was a passenger in a car when the accident occurred.

They were stationary in a queue of traffic, on a dual carriageway, when a large lorry ploughed into the rear of their car at speed. There was a very forceful impact, then a second impact as they were shunted into the car in front of them.

Personal Injury

As a result of this car accident our client lost consciousness for a short period and he suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured arm, cracked ribs, abdominal injuries and minor facial wounds. An operation was necessary to repair his arm and this left a large, noticeable scar.

Our client’s personal injury meant that he was unable to attend work for some time and he required a lot of help with his home and personal care during the months it took him to recover. He could not keep up with his normal activities, had to cancel travel plans and was left with some long-term tenderness and loss of sensation in his arm.

Compensation Claim

The injured passenger appointed our lawyers, who have extensive experience in road accident claims, to assist him in recovering compensation.

We began a personal injury claim against the driver of the lorry and their insurance company accepted liability. We obtained medical reports in respect of our client’s injuries and entered into negotiations with them in order to secure the maximum damages possible on his behalf.

Our client received compensation in excess of £12,000, in respect of the injuries he sustained and his related financial losses, including the costs of travel, care, services and medication.
