Employee Injured at Work by Falling Object

26th October 2007

In a recent compensation claim for an accident at work, our expert lawyers were able to recover damages for an employee injured by a falling object.

Workplace Accident

At the time of his workplace accident the claimant and his colleagues had been called out to repair some industrial machinery, at the site where he works on a sub-contract basis.

The occupier of the workplace was aware that there was a loose bracket adjacent to the machinery and decided that this would need to be removed. Unfortunately they did not inform the claimant about this clearly, or in sufficient time, to prevent it from falling onto him as he worked underneath.

Personal Injury Claim

As the bracket was large and heavy, when it fell onto the client’s head it knocked him to the ground, causing injuries to his head, face, teeth and neck. He required a stay in hospital, then later received treatment including physiotherapy as an outpatient.

The claimant also needed help with his regular household duties and suffered a loss of earnings.

Our specialist personal injury lawyers pursued a claim on his behalf and recovered £8,900.00 compensation in respect of his injuries and losses.
