K Drackett, who suffered a back injury in a manual handling accident at work

K Drackett was required to lift a heavy statue on his own, without any lifting equipment or colleagues to assist him.  As he tried to do this he suffered an injury to his lower back.

We acted on his behalf in a personal injury claim against his employer.  They admitted they were responsible, but then tried to retract this admission.  Eventually they re-admitted liability and K Drackett received compensation.  He wrote: "Excellent from start to finish.... Never have I been treated so courteously and made to feel so relaxed by an organisation, ever. Thank you Thompsons, thank you Miss Wylie you were marvellous, never doubted you for one moment, please please continue to help others like myself"

Mr Seaborne, who contracted occupational dermatitis due to his working conditons

In the course of his work, Mr Seaborne's skin came into contact with a rubber-based lubricant.  This caused him to develop occupational dermatitis.  We pursued a claim against his employer and proved that this substance should be prevented from coming into direct contact with the skin.  The Defendant put forward an initial offer of £2,000, but we successfully argued that Mr Seaborne was at a disadvantage on the labour market and we were able to settle the claim for £24,5000, more than 10 times their original offer.

Mr Seaborne wrote: "I am writing to say a big thank you for all your help and advice...You were very efficient at all times and I felt safe in the knowledge that you were dealing with my case".

Mrs Lowe, who suffered a fractured shoulder in a factory accident

Whilst walking through her workplace Mrs Lowe was struck by a pump truck, which another employee had pushed through some plastic curtains without looking. She fell heavily onto her shoulder, fracturing it as a result. We pursued a personal injury claim on her behalf and recovered £8250 compensation. She wrote: "Very many thanks for all the help you gave me, to receive my claim for broken shoulder. Have now received the cheque. Also a big thank you to your staff."

Mr Clarke, whose existing back injury was aggravated by an unsuitable work vehicle

Despite complaints that his work van was unsuitable, Mr Clarke was not provided with an alternative vehicle.  An existing back injury was aggravated and this brought forward the need for spinal surgery.  He wrote: "I would like to thank you and Thompsons Solicitors for the settlement of my claim.  I have had a first class service."

[top]

Mr Randall, who fractured his thigh in a fall at work

Mr Randall suffered a fall due to a slipping hazard in his employer's yard.  He fractured his femur as a result.  He wrote: "I have received the cheque from you and must take this opportunity to thank you for your attention to my claim and a successful outcome."

[top]

Ivan, who suffered a personal injury in a manual handling accident

There was a lack of safety in a manual handling task, which resulted in Ivan falling from a lorry and fracturing his upper arm in 2 places.  He was unable to return to his previous employment and was unemployed for 12 months after the accident.  He wrote: "Your help and professionalism have been outstanding."

Mr Green, who suffered lung cancer due to asbestos exposure at work

Mr Green was employed by the Ministry of Defence for a number of years and worked with asbestos regularly, without protection.  He later developed lung cancer as a result and our solicitors were able to recover £80,000.00 compensation.  He wrote: "I have been most grateful for your advice during the processing of my claim for compensation, and for the most efficient manner in which you have expedited the case, bringing it to a satisfactory conclusion."

Mr Roberts, whose back was injured by a company delivering goods to his home

F&H Transport were delivering a sofabed to Mr Roberts' home, however only sent one delivery person rather than the two required.  He therefore had to assist in carrying the sofabed and his back was injured.  Our lawyers recovered £2113.20 compensation in respect of his injury and losses.   He wrote: "Just a quick note to say a big thank you for all your hard work and the amazing result that you achieved on our behalf."
